Covid-19 Update

Railway Garden COVID Safe Plan

Visit the garden only if you are well

You should not visit the garden if you are sick, have possible symptoms of COVID19, are waiting for the results of a COVID 19 test, or have recently been in close contact with someone who has COVID19. If you become unwell within 14 days of visiting the garden, please let us know.

Garden only during allocated times

All regular gardeners have been allocated a time to work in the garden. Please ensure you garden only during your allocated time. This supports compliance with regulations limiting the number of participants in activities and social distancing.

On arrival at the garden

When you arrive at the garden for a session of gardening, you must:

  • Check that there are no more than 10 people working in the garden at any one time.

  • Clean your hands with sanitiser (BYO sanitiser or use sanitiser available outside the office when the Railway House is open or in the storage area when the Railway House is closed).

  • Sign in the attendance register, noting the date, your full name, contact number and arrival and departure time. If the office is closed, sign in on the attendance register located in the storage area (please do not remove it from the storage area).

At all times in the garden you must:

  • Wear a mask (properly covering nose & mouth).

  • Maintain a distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and others in the garden.

  • Bring your own garden gloves, tools and water bottle / cup & a pen/pencil & take them home again.

  • Wear your gloves.

  • Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces regularly, including hoses. Paper towels and cleaning products will be available in the storage area. Please dispose of the paper towel after cleaning.

When you finish gardening

  • Clean your hands with hand sanitiser.

  • Ensure that the hose and other tools are neatly put away and the storage area is locked.

Details on how to access the storage area will be provided to gardeners.
